The Need
Managers frequently resort to writing performance appraisals using worn out or redundant statements. Additionally, the face-to-face performance appraisal meeting can be poorly planned and executed.

Objectives
 • To learn strategies and techniques for writing meaningful performance appraisals
 • To practice a logical, eight-step performance appraisal sequence

 • Identifying specific performance appraisal writing problems
 • Tips for writing meaningful performance appraisals
 • Documenting and supporting performance activities
 • Preparing for and conducting performance reviews -- an eight-step process
 • Dealing with difficult situations
 • Setting and defining measurable performance objectives
